The Tourists Below | Limited Edition Print

Artist description: I spent the summer of 2019 exploring Victoria's Great Ocean Road. One of our first stops was Gibson Steps, one of Victoria’s most popular natural attractions. The site was named after local settler, Hugh Gibson who had famously carved 86 steps into the face of the cliff along the route originally used by the Kirrae Whurrong people. What struck me the most about this scene, was the sheer size of the ocean in comparison to the tourists on the beach below. It’s a beautiful reminder of human frailty in the face of Mother Nature whose power we cannot contain or control.
